It’s normal that it’s not sold in Colorado... High altitude and high octane don’t mix well. Performance cars need lower octane at high altitude.

Because they know buyers will want to stick to the highest octane possible even at high altitude and even if it’s stupid to do. Higher octane means that it burns slower than lower octane. Combine that with high altitude and less oxygen making it burn even slower and you usually need to reduce octane when driving in high places.

But people keep on thinking that higher octane equals better gas, which is simply not the case and why you shouldn’t use high octane in a car that doesn’t need it.
